Wedding Cake Inspiration from your Invitations

Not long ago I looked at how your wedding dress could be a great inspiration for your cake, today I thought I’d look at how your invites can inspire the cake design...

I think this first cake is one of my favourites, I’m a big fan of non white based wedding cakes, and it makes such a refreshing change.

While researching this post I spent a long time (probably too long) on Erica O’Brian’s website and blog, she has some fabulous cake designs and informative posts on cake design. I particularly liked her Wedding Cake Budget Quiz, here, a great way to decide how much you should be spending on the cake that is right for you

Floral Inspiration Ranunculus

I’m loving Ranunculus flowers right now, such a beautiful flower with their lovely full headed blooms and delicate multilayered petals, perfect for weddings. They come in a great range of colours from vibrant reds and oranges to delicate pastel pinks and white. Fabulous used on their own either in large bunches or single blooms; a great alternative to garden roses and peonies but look lovely combined with them too.

Wedding Inspiration Non Floral Buttonholes

A couple of weeks ago I looked at some inventive floral buttonholes for your Groom and Ushers, so I thought I’d take a look at some non floral ones.

Made with anything from varying fabrics, ribbons, buttons, feathers even old maps…

For more non floral buttonholes or boutonnieres, inspiration check out Ruffled, here.

Feeling creative? Follow this DIY tutorial from Utterly Engaged to create your own wedding buttonholes and if you’re not then Etsy is a great place to buy them online.
