Wedding Flower Inspiration Zita Elze

Zitz Elze is a Richmond based florist whose work I love for its uniqueness and fresh approach. Never one to go for standard floral displays, last year there was an abundance of fruit,  this year with one of the larger displays at Summer Inspiration it was all beside the sea. What I really liked about this display was that it genuinely felt like it was inspired by a love of visits to the seaside with cute little starfish topped cupcakes by Zoe Clark Cakes, the use of natural woods and reclaimed metals and a subtle pinks, peaches and cream colour palette.

I’m a big fan of Gypsophilia / Baby’s Breath bouquets and this pink one above is especially lovely with with its little shells trailing form hanging organza ribbons.

Absolutely loved this escort card display with cute little bouquets sitting in paper cups tied to the metal stand.

Zita's tagline is 'Painting with flowers' well she is an artist indeed when it comes to her floral design.

Wedding Flower Inspiration Rebel Rebel

Rebel Rebel founded by Athena Duncan and Mairead Curtin are based in Broadway Market London E8 and as last year had a funky musical accompaniment at their display with a DJ playing from the  Wedding Smashers

Vintage is still a big trend in wedding design but usually comprises of a pastel colour palette, Rebel Rebel’s display with an eclectic mix of vintage china and vases was full of bright and colourful flowers from blousy coral peonies, hot pink sweet peas to vibrant blue cornflowers

Before I left the market I got to have one of the raspberry mini cupcakes you can just see in the photos, it was yummy I wish I’d found out who they were by, so if anyone else knows please share.

Wedding Flower Inspiration Flower Power

Welcome back to the rest of our New Covent Garden Summer Inspiration florist reports.

Flower Power is an East London based florist headed by designer Jay Ravi. They a had a lovely floral wall and a great wrought iron cake stand (I believe it’s available to hire) which had a combination of cakes and candles on the different branches that would make a great focal point at your reception.

We Make London Summer Fair

A little break from our New Covent Garden Summer Inspiration reports (back tomorrow with more photos) to let you know that the We Make London Summer Art & Craft Fair is on this Saturday at Chelsea Town Hall.

If like me your London based then it’s definitely worth a visit for lots of fabulous finds for your wedding. From fashion to stationery there will be loads to choose from; here are just a few examples of the designers who’ll have stands whose products I think would make great wedding favours or gifts.

Soft Keyring By Picciolo

Escape Organic Body Smoothing Scrub By Ruby Red Cosmetics

©Little Gift of Happiness By Share the Feeling

I love the ‘©Little Gift of Happiness’, little handmade cotton bags that contain:

“An eraser – to erase all your worries
A coin – so you’ll never be broke
A marble – in case you lose yours
A piece of string – to tie things together when they fall apart
A smile – for obvious reasons
A kiss – coz somebody loves you”

How cute is that? They are fully customizable and handmade in Hackney by the ‘Chain Gang’ local people with learning disabilities and there’s a range of ©Little Gifts of Feelings available all with different contents. What a perfect wedding favour to give your guests.

And if you’re having a country village theme and are thinking of making your own bunting then the Seaside Sisters are running a bunting making workshop too…

Wedding Flower Inspiration Pollen Nation

Pollen Nation headed by florist Alison Trickey, an Olympian rower in her previous career, have two shops one in Shoreditch and the other in Heathfield, East Sussex.

Their display had a lovely vintage feel in neutral creams with pops of blue with some lovely pewter vases. I really liked the creative use of boxes to add height and as containers for displays too

Wedding Flower Inspiration Nichlas Vilsmark

Nichlas Vilsamark is a Danish florist who runs  Floral Symphonies in West London. As well as some lovely white flower arrangements and white doves in a beautifully decorated cage he had two stunning bouquets on show, the first below is this amazing ‘giant’ rose bouquet well, that’s what it looked like but on close inspection you could see it was lots of petals individually wired around a rose head.

This wired shower bouquet was just as stunning with a combination of white calla lilies, orchids and delicate hanging wired shells.

Summer Wedding Inspiration at New Covent Garden Flower Market

Last week I visited the Summer Wedding Inspiration event in association with Wedding Magazine at New Covent Garden Flower Market. Now in its second year it’s a great opportunity for anyone planning their wedding to see and meet some great London based florists and have a general nose around the market
looking at the flowers, plants and sundries for sale.

As usual I ended up taking far too many photos to post in one go so I thought I’d split the photos up into the designers work. There were some lovely displays that covered a variety of styles from country shabby chic, seaside romance to modern city glamour so do come back to see more over the next few posts as the photos below are just a taster.

One display that was particularly noteworthy was Jayne Copperwaite’s as the large displays (shown above in the dark grey urns) were made from artificial flowers combined with fresh foliage and a few fresh flowers. They are available to hire for much less then if they were all fresh blooms; a great idea if you want some statement flowers for your wedding but your budget won’t quite stretch to the real thing.
